KM UNITED
Starting in Spring 2013 KIDSMOVE Sports will initiate an advanced developmental soccer-training program. This program is called KM United and it will be offered to boys and girls 6-9 years of age. KM United objective is to teach the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting and ball control/ball possession. Weekly practices will provide maximum fun and enjoyment, challenge the players and develop playing ability incrementally.
The Team will meet 3 times a week. Tuesday and Friday practices will focus on soccer fundamentals. Weekend practice (Saturday or Sunday, day to be determined) will be in-house scrimmaging. There is a possibility of games scheduled with other local clubs, but this will only occur when the players have developed ball control. The games, either in-house or with other local clubs, will be in a 4 vs. 4, or 5 vs. 5 with a goalkeeper format. Tournament play will be incorporated once the team has developed the appropriate skill level and tactical game understanding.
Format of the team and practice is taken from a study from a University of Cologne on small side games and is currently supported by Manhattan Kickers and New York Cosmos Football Club
Team Selection
Children will be selected for the team based on their interest to improve as soccer players. The child must demonstrate ability to listen well, follow instructions and be a team player. Skills required are basic ball control, dribbling, and passing.
Future Developments:
The goal is to advance the KM United to U11 and U12 Team; this progression will happen as the players age up to the next level of league and tournament play.
